Key Izmir Automobile Museum

The Key Museum of Izmir is the largest classic car museum in Turkey and one of the most remarkable automobile museums in the region. The primary collection of this museum consists of 76 classic cars and more than 40 motorcycles. In addition to cars and motorcycles, there are over 3,000 model cars in various scales, around 300 hood badges, vintage car parts from the early 1900s to the 1960s, classic fuel pumps, automotive accessories, and a wide range of memorabilia related to the history of automobiles.

The first part of the museum is dedicated to different exhibitions and galleries that help visitors better understand the development of the automobile industry across different historical periods. The cars are displayed chronologically, allowing visitors to walk through the evolution of automobile engineering and design from the late 19th century to the modern era.

Many of the vehicles displayed in the museum are extremely rare and have been carefully restored to their original condition. The museum collaborates with professional restoration teams and international experts to preserve these historic vehicles using authentic parts whenever possible.

Inside the museum, visitors can also see a reconstructed example of a Shell gas station from the 1950s, representing the early era of modern fuel stations and the growth of the global automobile culture.

Two of the highlights of this collection are the Batmobile and the Bat Cycle from the famous Batman series. These iconic vehicles, associated with the 1966 Batman television production, are among the most visually striking and valuable pieces in the museum.

Key Museum, a paradise for classic car and motorcycle enthusiasts, was officially opened on May 6, 2015, in the Torbalı district of Izmir. The museum is located in a building with an area of approximately 7,000 square meters and quickly became one of the most visited private museums in the region.

The museum was established by the Özgörkey family, who began collecting classic vehicles and automobile memorabilia in 2001. Murat and Selim Özgörkey gradually expanded their private collection by acquiring rare vehicles from international auctions and collectors around the world.

Today the museum displays examples of some of the earliest automobiles ever built, including vehicles from the late 19th century, as well as early models from famous brands such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Porsche, Cadillac, and Ford. Some of these vehicles are more than a hundred years old, yet they remain in exceptional condition thanks to careful restoration and maintenance.

Since its opening, the museum has become an important destination for car enthusiasts, historians, and tourists interested in the technological and cultural history of the automobile.
